Definition- considered the greatest geographical author of the 18th century, his maps were the most accurate do to only original research. He didn't trust anyone but himself.
Application- Modern scientists use his maps to draw picture of the old globe, and to find important cities, resources and forests from the past. One of his maps is on display in the Louvre, one of the only documents there.

Definition- Was a famous geographer and explorer who delved into the theory ofenvironment and believed humans stemmed from Africa and spread out from there. He also was a believer of evolution from ape ancestors.
Application: People still follow the theories ofenvironmentand a great belief in evolution and geanology theory thanks to him.
Max Eckert-GriefendorffDefinition: Studied economics and geography at Liepzig graduated and with the thesis 'The problem carts. History of its solution' in 1895.
Application: He created six new map projecions that greatly enriched the field of cartography.

Definition- Is well known for his many maps of Europe and of the New Wrold. Also, he assisted in making Amsterdam the center of cartography in Europe.
Application- He made some of the first maps of the west coast of America and and many maps around Europe.
Dicaearchus
Definition- Was Aristotle's student as a Greek cartographer. He was also among the first to use geographical coordinates.
Application- He was one of the first cartographers to use geographical coordinates.
